Taiwan, 22 January, 2026 - Shopee Charity, in partnership with four nonprofit organizations, distributed “Family Essential Vouchers” worth NT$2,400 per household to more than 200 disadvantaged families across Taiwan, helping to ease financial pressure during the winter school break.
While school holidays are often a time of joy for children, many underprivileged families face increased strain when access to school-provided nutritious lunches is temporarily unavailable. According to the Child Welfare League Foundation’s Dietary and Nutrition Survey of Disadvantaged Children, the average meal for underprivileged children costs NT$32, and more than half have experienced hunger, with 19.2% citing financial constraints as the primary cause.
To help alleviate this situation, Shopee Charity worked closely with four nonprofit partners — the Taiwan Love and Hope Child Care Development Association, the Taiwan Miracle Public Welfare Care Association, the Sun Young Care Association of R.O.C., and the Taiwan Rainbow Gospel and Welfare Association — to ensure support reaches families most in need. Each eligible household received vouchers valued at NT$2,400 to help cover lunch expenses typically supported by schools, while also allowing families the flexibility to purchase essential supplies.
Unlike traditional physical donations, Shopee Charity leverages the flexibility of e-commerce to provide families with greater choice. The vouchers can be used for purchases on Shopee, with orders based on each household’s individual priorities, from staple foods such as rice and milk powder to other daily necessities, enabling timely and practical support during the holiday period.
Through this initiative, Shopee Charity reaffirms Shopee’s commitment to making it easier for communities to access essential goods safely and conveniently, and to supporting vulnerable families, especially during these extended school breaks.
