Vietnam, March 2, 2025 – In 2024, with the support of government agencies, associations, a network of hundreds of content creators, and reputable partners, Shopee Vietnam has provided essential resources to help tens of thousands of local businesses transition into the digital economy. These efforts have gradually expanded the influence of high-quality "Made in Vietnam" brands beyond the domestic market and into ASEAN.
"Shopee is more than just an e-commerce platform; we are a trusted partner to millions of Vietnamese businesses on their digital transformation journey. We are committed to delivering practical solutions, in-depth training programs, and groundbreaking initiatives to support local sellers in achieving sustainable growth. In 2025, Shopee will continue to expand collaborations and leverage technology to build a dynamic e-commerce ecosystem where Vietnamese products are celebrated and consumers receive the best value.", said Tran Tuan Anh, Managing Director of Shopee Vietnam.
Enhancing E-commerce Training and Digital Transformation
In recent years, Shopee has actively collaborated with associations, local governments, and influential organizations to launch key digital transformation programs. Notable initiatives in 2024 include “Digital Transformation for Vietnamese Businesses through E-commerce,” “Shopee Enables SMEs” in partnership with VECOM, and “Women on the Digital Move (WODIMO)” in collaboration with CARE.
In 2024, Shopee provided 500 free online training materials, reaching over 17 million trainees. Shopee also trained 20,000 SMEs across 30 provinces on online business operations, and supported traditional craft villages and local suppliers, leading to a 20-fold increase in revenue. This has indirectly created thousands of local jobs by expanding supply chains and boosting production.
Among these initiatives, “Shopee Enables SMEs”, launched in September 2024, is a strategic collaboration between Shopee and the Vietnam E-Commerce Association (VECOM). The program aims to train 100,000 SMEs from 63 provinces on e-commerce skills and assist them in setting up online shops on the platform after training, contributing significantly to the national digital transformation movement.
In 2025, the project will scale up further, supporting local economic digitalization through e-commerce by helping SMEs establish and grow their businesses online. The program began in January with a signing ceremony with the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen Province to offer e-commerce training and launch an online portal featuring local Thai Nguyen products on Shopee. This model is expected to expand to seven other key provinces throughout the year.
As part of the project, Shopee will work closely with provincial governments to enhance SMEs' e-commerce capabilities, strengthen local supply-demand connections, distribute OCOP-certified products, enhance the consumption of local products via the provincial online portal model, and promote these products to both domestic and international markets.
Promoting local agricultural products and Vietnamese cultural heritage
Over the years, Shopee has consistently supported local businesses in marketing "Made in Vietnam" products across various categories through programs such as "Caring Orange Basket" and "Ton Vinh Nong San Viet." Especially in 2024, Shopee introduced two monthly livestream series: "Shopee Tinh Hoa Viet Du Ky" and "Shopee Fruit Livestream Festival."
These initiatives focus on three major objectives, including: Enabling businesses and farmers to share their brand stories, introduce Vietnamese products, and highlight local cultural heritage; Expanding and diversifying distribution channels for local and seasonal fruits, helping sellers increase sales and achieve sustainable e-commerce growth; And enhancing farmers’ livelihoods and providing consumers with high-quality local products at competitive prices.
With these initiatives, Shopee has partnered with over 150 KOLs/KOCs to host livestreams from farms, warehouses, and studios, selling more than 80,000 Vietnamese agricultural products. The initiatives have also helped Vietnamese brands achieve a remarkable revenue uplift of up to 30 times, achieving over 100 million impressions across Shopee Live and social media platforms. These have indirectly supported thousands of farmers in enhancing their livelihoods, including assisting 30 orchards and households in obtaining a VietGAP certification and developing beekeeping businesses.
Supporting Vietnamese sellers and products in online export to ASEAN
Beyond facilitating digital transformation and e-commerce growth within Vietnam, Shopee also helps businesses expand into international markets, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Taiwan (China) through the Shopee International Platform (SIP). This initiative significantly reduces barriers and costs for SMEs looking to introduce their products globally. Since its launch, SIP has attracted over 350,000 sellers, listed more than 15 million Vietnamese products in international markets, and supported sellers in achieving a steady revenue growth of 20-30%.
Additionally, Shopee collaborated with the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to participate in the annual ASEAN Online Shopping Day (AOSD). This large-scale regional e-commerce event aims to drive industry growth and accelerate digital transformation across ASEAN.
In 2025, Shopee will continue maintaining these flagship programs while introducing new initiatives to maximize support for local sellers, fostering the “Vietnamese consumers prioritize Vietnamese products” movement, and elevating the global presence of Vietnamese products.
