Shopee Partners with 15 Charities in Taiwan to Spread Joy to Families in Need

Taiwan, October 18, 2024 - Shopee Taiwan recently hosted an unforgettable day for families in need at the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park in collaboration with 15 charitable organizations to create the “Shopee Charity Playground.” The event, which welcomed nearly 2,000 children and their families, featured a variety of engaging activities, including interactive games, magic shows, and balloon art, offering an enriching experience for all attendees.

Expanding on last year’s successful partnership with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), Shopee joined forces this year with the Down Syndrome Foundation, The Garden of Hope Foundation, and BOYO Social Welfare Foundation, which supports the education of underprivileged students. By combining its ecommerce platform’s reach with a commitment to social good, Shopee continues to play an active role in giving back to the community and creating a lasting impact in Taiwan.

Dr. Cheng-Hsia Lin, Chairman of the Down Syndrome Foundation, expressed appreciation for the exclusive access to the park, which provided a comfortable environment for children with Down syndrome to play freely. “This exclusive access ensured that children could enjoy the park without concerns about overcrowding, allowing parents to relax,” he said. “Shopee’s continued partnership has also been invaluable, especially in our ‘Mooncakes with Love’ campaign. Thanks to Shopee users, donations doubled this year, providing much-needed support for families across Taiwan.”

The Garden of Hope Foundation, which works to prevent gender-based violence and promote gender equality, also benefited from Shopee’s support. Earlier this year, Shopee collaborated with the foundation to raise funds for its “Safe Haven for Girls” campaign, which provides aid and support to women and children in crisis. Thanks to the generosity of Shopee users, the campaign saw a remarkable increase in donations.

Shopee Taiwan’s Head of Brand Marketing Director, Pauline Liao, underscored the company’s commitment to supporting underserved communities. “Shopee is dedicated to making a positive impact by supporting initiatives that help those in need,” she said. “Our recent public service advertisement, which promoted the ‘Donate 100 TWD’ fundraising campaign, reached over 10 million viewers and generated significant engagement from first-time donors. By waiving transaction fees on charity donations, we ensure that every penny goes directly to the cause, further reinforcing our commitment to corporate social responsibility.”

The Shopee Charity Playground event reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to use its platform to contribute to social good. With plans for future initiatives, Shopee remains committed to supporting Taiwan’s communities and fostering a culture of giving.
