Malaysia, July 13, 2024 - Shopee has partnered with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to launch the Pek Kasih Mama initiative, aimed at uplifting local communities through technology and providing support to mothers across Malaysia by improving access to affordable childcare and maternity essentials.
As part of this campaign, 1,000 care packages will be distributed to mothers and expectant mothers. Each package is thoughtfully curated to include essential items such as MOH-certified diapers, baby wipes, bath products, towels, breastfeeding necessities, and skincare products suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Bin Ahmad, attended the launch event at Dewan MPKS Puncak Alam, where he personally distributed 300 care packages. The remaining 700 packages will be distributed at various state-run events nationwide, including the Program Madani Afiat, which serves as the ministry’s platform for delivering healthcare programs to the community.
Additionally, QR codes will be strategically placed at designated government events to allow mothers to seamlessly register for the Shopee Mum's Club, where they can unlock benefits such as members' exclusive vouchers and discounts, parenting content and deals, parenting tips via Shopee Live sessions and other features that would be helpful during their parenting journey.
YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Bin Ahmad expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "The Pek Kasih Mama (program) represents a strategic collaboration between Shopee and the Ministry of Health, underscoring our shared commitment to supporting our communities, particularly in easing the cost of living. The Shopee Mum’s Club serves as a vibrant community where mothers can access expert-led education. Through our ‘Shopee Live’ sessions, featuring specialists in infant and young child care, we provide valuable insights on a range of parenting topics. These live sessions also foster discussions, enabling mothers to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.”
Tan Ming Kit, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Shopee Malaysia, emphasized the company's dedication to making a meaningful difference by unlocking the transformative power of technology. "At Shopee, we’re committed to making e-commerce accessible and beneficial for all Malaysians, including helping increase accessibility to essentials. Our partnership with the government, exemplified by initiatives like Pek Kasih Mama in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, enables us to directly impact communities, especially mothers and families.”
Since its establishment in 2019, the Shopee Mum's Club has empowered mothers with informative content from childcare professionals, along with quality products at affordable prices and vouchers for childcare essentials. The community regularly hosts Shopee Live sessions covering topics such as breastfeeding for working mothers, car seat safety standards, and managing tantrums, among others.
