Shopee unites with FoodMap to elevate Vietnamese agriculture

Vietnam, August 2, 2023 – Shopee, ShopeeFood and FoodMap have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the “Ton Vinh Nong San Viet” project, which aims to support local farmers in Vietnam build sustainable businesses, and contribute to the development of the local economy. 

Scheduled to run until December 2023, the project sets out to support farmers in various provinces and cities nationwide, including Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Bac Giang. It aims to achieve three main objectives:

  1. Helping farmers to preserve perennial native plants
  2. Introducing Vietnamese agricultural products and local specialties to online users.
  3. Assisting local farmers in enhancing their production processes to meet VietGAP standards, improving the quality of Vietnamese agricultural products while simultaneously enhancing the long-term livelihoods of farmers.

Under this project, Shopee Xpress will also play a pivotal role in the transportation of agricultural products, ensuring that the quality of the products always stays fresh. 

Ms. Vu Thanh Quynh, Head of Communications at Shopee Vietnam said, “The cooperation between Shopee and FoodMap will leverage the strengths, and optimize the use of utilities in our ecosystems. With deep expertise in the production and management of agricultural products, FoodMap will help local farmers standardize planting processes, elevate product prices, and ensure purchases amidst market volatility. By leveraging the advantages of Shopee’s ecommerce platform and ecosystem, we will strengthen advertising activities to improve the value of Vietnamese agricultural products while helping consumers to easily shop and support local specialties through many attractive promotions.”
