Indonesia, July 31, 2023 – Shopee has partnered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Indonesia's Social Security Administration) to safeguard the welfare of all Shopee partners and users by helping to expand social security coverage and providing easier access to protection.

To commemorate the partnership, Zainudin, the Director of Membership at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and Daniel Minardi, Director of Business Partnership at Shopee Indonesia helped to distribute membership cards to partners and users who successfully registered through the Shopee app. 

Zainudin emphasized that e-commerce has become a major focus of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's membership expansion, noting that Indonesia’s thriving e-commerce ecosystem hosts millions of informal workers, who remain vulnerable to various risks while working. As many of these workers are an integral part of Shopee’s operations, this collaboration aims to raise awareness among ecommerce users about the importance of social security protection and will further enrich Shopee's array of features and services. 

Shopee Indonesia was also commended by Zainudin for its pioneering role as the first e-commerce platform in the country devoted to supporting its partners and users to become active participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The partnership will provide a streamlined process through the Shopee app for registration and payment of contributions, making it easier for participants to receive their social security benefits. 

Daniel Minardi, Director of Business Partnership at Shopee Indonesia, acknowledged the pivotal role Shopee has in driving productivity and fostering the well-being of those in its ecosystem, helping them to safeguard for their future and provide them with a peace of mind. “Work-related risks can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. As such, it is an honor for us to partner with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and become the first e-commerce platform in Indonesia committed to encouraging our partners and users to become participants of the programme through the convenience of the new feature we are presenting. This service extends beyond payment contributions and will also encompass accessible registration services,” said Minardi.

Zainudin also expressed hope that the conveniences provided through this synergy will help accelerate social security coverage for workers, enabling them to work hard with peace of mind, free from worry.
